Hang a Little Glitter: DIY Glitter Hanger

3.18.2015

DIY Glitter HangerBecause I am easily distracted by all things that sparkle, it has taken me a while to write this post. I just cannot stop gawking at these photos. I am in love. With a hanger. Take a backseat husband, we are on the hanger express. Gold, sparkly, and shiny?! Yes please.

Since I now have your full attention, take a look around for a moment. Do you notice any other new, gold, and sparkly things? What better way to introduce my new blog to you, than with a post about sparkles! Because you obviously love both my new blog and my new hanger, let the contest commence: Just for fun, which do you like better? (No, you cannot have my hanger if it loses)DIY Glitter Hangers By now I’m sure you realize that anything with glitter, sequins, or sparkles has my full attention. If I’m doing a little “online research” (read: shopping) and I find something with these requirements, it is immediately pinned.

Unless I can make it myself. Then it gets done. DIY Glitter HangersI made my own glitter hanger by buying a pack of wooden hangers at Wal-Mart ($2.50/5). I bought the large glitter there as well ($3.47 – you can do at least two hangers with one package). I spray painted my hanger gold beforehand and Modge-Podged the living heck out of that hanger. Glitter everywhere (heaven!). After it dried, I put another heavy coat of Modge Podge on top, so glitter wouldn’t cover my closet (as if that would be a bad thing). And voila! The most amazingly beautiful hanger you’ve ever seen. You’re welcome.

Until next time my friends…I am off to stare at my hanger.

Yes!!!!! I switched to a self-hosted blog, and AFTER I did it, I found out you cannot take your WordPress followers with you. I had a pretty sad day yesterday realizing that all of my followers no longer know I exist! I’m going to work at getting some back but I’m not sure how easy it will be. 🙁

I know!!! My beautiful mother gave me the idea to use it as a decoration, and possibly hang a print or two from it. She’s so smart. 😉

This is probably one of my favorite things you’ve ever made! Did you use the spray mod podge to set it? Or regular? I might have to do this one of these weekends!

Isn’t it amazing?!?! I LOVEEEEEEEE IT. I used regular MP because I didn’t even know they have a spray one!?!? OMGGGGGG my life is going to change!! (But also, I think the regular might be better for this, because you want it thick so the glitter doesn’t come off).

Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣 Listen. Social me Even with the bathroom trips. 🤣

Listen. Social media tends to make traveling with children look glamorous, and the truth is, it usually isn’t. Are some kids professional travelers? Of course. But reality is that there’s always pitfalls and unexpected turbulence that you just have to mentally prepare for before you travel. And in the end? I promise you, it’s worth all the hassle.

Do you ever just look at your spouse and think, I Do you ever just look at your spouse and think, I really nailed it?

Why yes, I do. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite things we get to give our girls One of my favorite things we get to give our girls is perspective. To see new places. To meet different people. To experience cultures outside of their own.

Not so they grow up thinking one place is “better” than another — but so they grow up curious, grateful, and grounded. And the more of the world we see, the more thankful I become for home, for the freedoms we have, and for the life we get to build together.

I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I might be the world’s worst “influencer,” because I’m here to tell you this: you do not need a whole new wardrobe for vacation.

Social media makes it feel like every trip requires new outfits, a new summer closet, a new date-night dress…but honestly? It doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet you already have plenty of great options hanging in your closet. And instead of spending a bunch of money on clothes you’ll probably only wear once, maybe it’s enough to just wear what you already love.
One day, instead of hearing little feet running th One day, instead of hearing little feet running through the house all day, I’ll be leaving voicemails hoping they call me back when they have time.

The sticky fingerprints will wash away, the car seats will come out, bedtime routines will end, and the house that once felt so loud will get quieter little by little.

It’s strange how the things that exhaust you in the moment become the very things you ache for later. 🤍

Don’t get me wrong, if it were in the budget you better believe it’s worth it. I am not advocating for giving them LESS, I’m just advocating for staying within your families budget. And maybe if we see more of these easy little inexpensive gifts, we can make it more acceptable to gift within budget. Because that’s what it’s all about.

What’s that saying? It’s the thought that counts.
I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that I’ve been seeing so many reels lately saying that Mother’s Day is only for moms with small children. I couldn’t disagree more. To me, Mother’s Day is not just about me. It’s about the women who helped shape me, as a mother, a woman, a friend. It’s about my friends who help me be a better mother, even if they don’t have little kids themselves. It’s about my own mother, who is the biggest inspiration for me, to be a better mother myself. It’s about the many generations before me that allowed me to be a mother at all. It’s about every woman in my life that loves me and my girls as if they’re their own. That’s who I’ll be celebrating this Mother’s Day.
