Dollar Store Snowflake Door Hanger 4I must apologize. I have been neglecting you. With all of this Reuben nonsense going on, I don’t have a lot of extra spare time. He’s got me running around, setting up sets, moving mountains, and pouring drinks. He’s been partying nonstop since his arrival, and he only has a week and a half left. I’m sure his antics will only get crazier with each passing day, since he’ll have to get some of this energy out before he goes back to the North Pole and has to answer to a certain white-haired, slightly overweight, old guy in a red suit.

Dollar Store Snowflake Door HangerIn the meantime, I’ve been stopping at the Dollar Tree every week trying to get props for Reuben. Every time I walk through the holiday aisles, I see these pretty snowflakes. Anything covered in sparkling glitter calls out to me. Doesn’t matter if its a spatula or a garden hose. If it’s covered in glitter, I must own it. So of course I couldn’t buy just one pack of these snowflakes.

Dollar Store Snowflake Door Hanger Ten packages later, I arrived home with my loot. I arranged the snowflakes into a pattern I liked and smothered them in hot glue. My glue gun is now covered in glitter too. Looks like it was a win/win for me. Now I’m off…Reuben is calling.

Hi Mary! Sorry, I didn’t really have directions to post. As I mentioned, I laid the snowflakes out on the floor, in a pattern I liked. Then I used the hot glue gun to glue the edges together, where they overlapped. That was about it! I used a string from one snowflake to glue to the top of the set, so it would be able to be hung. 🙂

Right!!! That’s what I’m looking for too, and how do you hang it up it just says smother with glue ok that’s not enough. Where can we find the instructions to this on how to glue them???

          • shauna841505@yahoo.com says

            9.29.2018 at 10:27 pm

Hi Wendy! Haha I’m sorry it wasn’t clear enough! I laid out the snowflakes in the pattern I liked (overlapping edges). Wherever an edge overlapped with another, I added a dab of hot glue to the two pieces so they’d stay connected. Then by the end they were all connected. In order to hang it, I hot glued a small string to a piece at the top so it would hang from a hanger. Let me know if you have any more questions!

  11. Christina says

Did you use ribbon or how did you hang the Snowflakes? Where these a current purchase at Dollar Tree?

    • shauna841505@yahoo.com says

      9.12.2016 at 8:24 pm

Hi Christina!!! I did make this last winter, but they typically have all of the same snowflake ornaments each year so I’m sure they’ll still have all of these. The trick is to get there when the Christmas decorations first come out so you can get a good combination of them before they sell out! One of the snowflakes actually had a string/ribbon attached to it to hang it with, and I just kept that on to use it to hang the entire piece! Hope that answers your questions, and hope yours turns out amazing!!

    • shauna841505@yahoo.com says

Hi Mary Katherine! I used hot glue to glue each snowflake to the next one, and then I just tied a string to the top of one of the snowflakes to hang onto my door hanger. There is no backing other than the snowflakes! 🙂 Hope this helps.

When I became a stay at home mom, I thought it wou When I became a stay at home mom, I thought it would only be for a year at most. But as it turned out, I was lucky to be able to make it last as long as it has. What no one ever tells you though about becoming a SAHM, is that your whole identity can get wrapped up in being a mom. And for some women, that’s not a good thing. But for me, it’s a phenomenal thing. It’s an incredible time in my life that I wouldn’t trade for anything. That doesn’t mean I’m not exhausted or irritated at all, it just means I’ll take all of the negatives because the positive completely outweighs it for me.

This should go without saying, that if you AREN’T satisfied with just being a mom, that’s okay too. For some women, having something else that is THEIRS makes them a better mom. And more power to you!

Back when I was growing up (wayyyyyyy back then), Back when I was growing up (wayyyyyyy back then), it seemed like most people grew up around their extended families. By the time I was in my twenties, it just seemed more likely that you’d be living away from your home towns, starting your own life. But what we didn’t realize was what that meant down the road, when we would start our own families. That our village wouldn’t be made of our family, but instead close friends. The only problem with that, is that most other young parents are working to support themselves, thus aren’t always available to be your village. It can be hard to ask a friend for help when you know she’s simultaneously drowning in her own house.

So if it “takes a village,” but you’re doing it on your own, I see you. It’s HARD, and it is exhausting. But one day we will be on the other side of these days, telling our babies that it takes a village. And hopefully, we will be right down the road to help them. 🩵

After having my first daughter, I felt like I knew After having my first daughter, I felt like I knew a lot about parenting. I had it down, we had a routine and a schedule and she was pretty easy to handle. Then we had a second. And I realized that everything I THOUGHT I knew about parenting was a lie. I wasn’t a pro at “parenting,” I was a pro at parenting HER. Now I do everything I can not to laugh when a mom of only one child talks like I did. I get it, we’ve been there too, and I’m not judging. But the more kids you add in, the more experience you get as a parent. Because every personality is SO different, that the way you parent one isn’t always the same as the way you parent the others.

Thoughts?
When I heard this audio, I instantly loved it. It’s such a crazy thing to see in nature, that God is showing us just how stressful and depleting being a new mama can be.

So if you’re in the thick of it mama, just know you’ll get your pink back soon.
