Not only am I terrified of having my own screaming baby at home, but I am equally as terrified to be pregnant. This was a major factor in my decision to not have the six children I always planned on. Instead, my mom can just hope that I get over this fear one day and have one. Since I’m the only child, I am her only hope for grandchildren. I guess she didn’t like being pregnant either.
Every time I consider the possibility of attempting to procreate, I seem to find myself surrounded by those beautiful bundles of joy. Only they’re screaming. And smelly. Or bratty. Or all of the above. Like at the airport. Have you ever left the airport thinking you wanted to have children? I’m telling you, it’s not possible. Guess it’ll be a while before the urge returns, since I just got out of the airport yesterday, barely alive.
While I sit back and enjoy my freedom quiet nights, my friends are out procreating. And this is perfect for me, because I get the best of both worlds. I visit them a few times a year, bring gifts (and sugar), get them all riled up, and then fly home. I’m the “cool auntie” for sure.
Since I can’t be there to eat sympathy ice cream and pickles, I have to send my love another way. Not that I wouldn’t mind the ice cream and pickles. As long as they’re separate. And the pickles are Claussen’s. That sounds like a party to me.
I put together this Pregnancy Care Package for my friend who lives across the country. Literally. West Coast to East Coast style. She’s expecting her second son, and when I found out, I was thrilled for her. Because although kids aren’t in my current life plans, I still get all excited when they’re in my friend’s.

When I first started to read this, I thought that you were about to be making a big announcement. 😀
Hahaha not quite yet. Maybe someday! 🙂
That’s what I thought too when I first started reading! 😛
Hahaha it’ll be a while for me. I’ll count on you first! 🙂
I’m sorry to hear that you’re not ready to be a baby mama. You would be a GREAT MOTHER.
I think you should get busy right now. lol
Hahaha well we will see! Maybe eventually! 🙂
Great idea! And I’m sure you’ll be a great mama one day when you’re ready lol
Hahaha we’ll see! No hurry! 🙂
You always have such cute ideas to celebrate the important things! Such a great care package idea! 🙂
Thank you!!! I was happy with the project, it turned out really cute and I put it together in an hour!! Haha
You are such an awesome friend! I love this gift…each and every part of it!
And…for when you’re ready…it isn’t so bad. Or it must not be, because I have four! I mean, at this very moment they are all asleep, so check back around 10:45 when they are getting hangry. ?
Awwwwwwwwww thank you! I just hate that I’m not there to go through these stages with my friends, so I want them to know how much I’m thinking of them! And I can’t believe you have four!!! I bet it’s amazing in its own way, and even when they’re hangry. 😉
What a beautiful, thoughtful gift. You are a good ‘auntie’ and don’t rush! Have children when YOU know your ready. I love my two, and am happy I had them when I did.
Until then, continue sharing these wonderful gifts for others. 🙂
Thank you!!! My husband and I feel this way completely, we will wait until we are really ready for them. We want to enjoy each other for now, and not rush anything. 🙂
Remember you can send your babies to me for extended stays. We will teach them all the good stuff.
Oh right. Like how to drink beer and eat fried food. 😉 I mean, that’s all we do when we visit.
Such a cute idea!
Thanks!
Love this idea! But I prefer not to need this gift! ?
Hahaha you better not need this gift!
Don’t you think I should be another Great grandma. You would make a great mom.. your husband would be a great dad… look how he could go down the slide with [him or her].. He would be so proud… I love you either way.. just don’t take after me….
Hahaha You have plenty of great grandchildren already! You will have more I’m sure someday! 🙂
I need this and I’m not even pregnant lol
Hahah right! I’d totally use most of this stuff on a regular day!
Your blog is one of the most inspirational blogs that I’ve come across, you are so creative and your friends must love such thoughtful gifts. I definitely enjoy dropping in to see what you’ve been up to!
Oh my gosh that is honestly such a sweet thing to say! I sincerely appreciate it! Sometimes you start wondering if there’s really any point, and it’s good to hear that there is! 🙂
Thank you for posting this! My sister-in-law just announced her pregnancy and I want to share my support, especially since I don’t plan on my own children.
It’s so funny seeing all these messages encouraging you to have kids! My husband and I get that a lot as well! Who knows things could change and we may one day, but I find it crazy how much other people want you to have kids!
I completely agree!!! I’m sure its universal to push people to have babies, but in our own time! I’m glad to know I’m not alone in this boat! 🙂
What is the small mint colored box that says “For Crying out loud”? Tissues?
Yes!! I found them at Michael’s!
